The DC Studios logo is set in a rainy Gotham alley
Tale
Following the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, makes a move to take over Gotham’s criminal underworld. From melting makeup to filming in freezing temperatures, Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti talk about getting into character during the making of “The Penguin”. Colin Farrell fought hard to have his version of the Penguin smoke tobacco in The Batman (2022), but it was unsuccessful. For his own series, however, the character is portrayed as an occasional tobacco user, with a preference for cigars.
Farrell STEALS this series
An umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo. Featured in Graham Norton I like: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). He’s awesome.
There’s nothing cartoonish about it
There’s nothing about the character that even hints at Farrell. The NY dialect, the swaying and limping, the attitude: you’d swear it was someone else. The incredible prosthetics are very realistic and add to the character. The show is gritty and graphic.
Well-written and tense
It makes a great counterpart to Christopher Nolan’s Batman. In fact, I’d say it blows Marvel’s line out of the water. I hope there’s a second season, but I know that’s limited. It’s a shame.
