Essex and Wales collide as Gavin and Stacey fall in love, bringing friends, family and luggage with them. Apart from the London scenes in the first episode, the entire series was filmed in Wales, including the scenes set in the film. Essex. The house, which the Shipmans’ (Gavin’s family) house is in Dinas Powys, a village 1 mile northwest of Bury, where the Westies (Stacey’s family) live. In series 3, Breen and Gavin’s cars also have completely different registration plates than in previous series. Gavin’s blue Saxo has changed from T-reg (MY 1999) to X-reg (MY 2000). Breen’s green Picasso has changed from CV02 (MY 2002, registered in Cardiff) to HV54 (MY 2004, registered in Portsmouth). They are obviously different cars. I have to say I don’t quite understand the previous reviewer as I think they are on another planet and I had to clarify the post. Gavin & Stacey is one of the best sitcoms I have seen for years. It has a wonderful cast and a brilliantly written script by Ruth Jones and James Corden. The programme follows Gavin (an Essex boy) and Stacey (a Barry Island receptionist) who start a relationship over the phone while working. The reviews for the series are so good that a second series has already been ordered.
