Sawyer’s character was originally intended to be an older, sleek, suit-wearing urban crook from Buffalo, New York. However, when Josh Holloway forgot a line in his audition and then kicked a chair and cursed loudly in frustration, the writers liked the edge he brought to Sawyer’s character and decided to write Sawyer as a more southern, darker drifter. Jin and Sun are married and share the last name “Kwon,” which becomes a major plot point in the final season.

LOST transcended TV drama writing and embraced the theme when it burst onto the scene in 2004. That was a whopping 14 years ago, and the show is still going strong. Seriously.
